Way to go, Melanie; I agree. One does not decorate the delicious cakes Matt makes and call it a craft. Art vs craft is an age-old discussion (and I'm close to 'age-old', so I know). I used to call my knitting a craft, until I got creative and designed some scarves. Those were art. My watercolors are a craft because I'm still learning technique. Someday, when I get creative and can paint a landscape from my own perspective, it will be art. I guess it's all in the eyes of the doer; still, while Chef Matt rants, we can (with the appropriate respect) rant right back. No one will win this one. :-) BTW, I can follow a recipe to the letter and I don't even call myself a cook, let alone someone good at her craft. :-) Cool blog, Chef Matt.

This recipe version is more detailed than a production recipe; more tailored to a non-professional who already knows how to cook a bit. I don't like to use "T" for tablespoon or "t" for teaspoon; too easy to make a typo when writing it all down.

That's a crap-ton of hummus! So, I read the warning. This leads me to ask: Is this a "detailed" recipe or a chef recipe? As a non-chef, I'm used to tbsp for tablespoon and I don't know what tt is. I mean, yeah, I can guess that it's "to taste" but what if it isn't? I love the tip to cook the chickpeas. I always thought that it was because they had better food processors or something. Keep it up! I love these.

True, art, science, craft are all intertwined. But that's a very long rant of mine. Forthcoming. And for sure, I can't wait to hear back from you on THAT one!

I like the recipes. But I believe you forgot "plug in food processor". Perhaps it could have been a little more detailed. LOL.

I would argue that cooking and baking ARE art, science and craft. (But I suppose it depends on your definition of these words).

I am very proud of you :)

(I would have commented on FB, but my comments are automatically assigned to my SN login, so obviously it would have looked strange :) )
